Q: What are the differences between demo rights, lease rights, and exclusive rights?

A: Demo rights gives you the nonexclusive rights to record to the beat and freely distribute like a typical demo. You may also post your song on your website as long as it's not for sale.

Lease rights gives you the nonexclusive right to sell, distribute, perform, and otherwise use the beat. Lease rights last as long as the beat is not sold for exclusive rights (in which case, leasing rights expire 6 months later).

Exclusive rights gives you the exclusive rights to do whatever you want to with the beat as long as you're not trying to resell the beat of course! Everything is summarized below:

Q: When I buy the beats, how and when do I get them?

A: You are emailed a download link to the beats instantly with online payment. You are also emailed a contract for lease purchases instantly, and for exclusive rights 2-3 business days later. For exclusive rights purchases, you are emailed instructions on how to download your wav files using a simple "FTP" program. The wav files are ready for download within 2-3 business days. If you prefer your beats to be put on a CD and mailed, email info@soforealproductions.com. You will be billed $50 extra for it.

Q: What if two people buy the same beat?

A: They can still copyright their own songs (beat and lyrics) and sell, distribute, broadcast, and perform the songs, keeping their own royalties. When buying a So Fo Real beat, the copyright for that beat still belongs to So Fo Real, but the copyright to the song you make with the beat belongs to you. With the So Fo Real contract, you can still sell, distribute, perform, and broadcast your own songs, keeping all of your royalties.

Q: Do I have to pay any royalties or need any publishing information from So Fo Real?

A: Nope! All beats are royalty-free! You keep ALL of your royalties.

Q: What happens if I have demo or lease rights on a beat and someone buys exclusive rights to it?

A: Your demo or lease rights expire 6 months later. So if you hvae long-term plans for your beats, you should consider exclusive rights! We offer payment plans for exclusive rights... see further below.

Q: Can you hold beats?

A: No. Beats are sold on a first-come first-serve basis.

Q: Do I get the broken down wav files for the beat?

A: Only with exclusive rights. You get all of the elements of the beat separated into 24-bit wav files along with a mix wav file. You may request tracked wav files with your leasing purchases for $100 extra. Email info@soforealproductions.com and we'll bill you for it.

Q: I can't find a beat I listened to a while back, what happened?

A: It was probably sold for exclusive rights. Everytime someone buys exclusive rights to a beat, it is removed from the site. If you were interested in that beat, we can make a custom beat similar to it according to most budgets. Half is due upfront and a week is need for production of the first sample. Production is modified until your completely happy with your instrumental.

Q: Who is So Fo Real?

A: Known as dBoi, Drumatik, and Slick, So Fo Rea are a team of 3 blood-brothers that produce hip hop, R&B, pop, jaaz, and reggae beats for major and indepedent labels and artists worldwide. They have over 20 years of combined production experience, together with over 20 years of musical instrument experience. So Fo Real has over 5 years of mixing/mastering experience. So Fo Real Productions is based in Birmingham, AL, USA, and has been doing consistently growing business since 2003.

Q: What does So Fo Real use to make beats?

A: So Fo Real uses Sonar and Pro-Tools professional sequencing software, custom built state-of-the-art computers, a suite of professional vst and softsynth plugins and effects, mixing/mastering software, professional keyboard workstations and beat machines, and live instruments.

Q: Does So Fo Real use samples?

A: No. All beats are 100% original so you don't have to worry about clearing samples. We do however have beats offline that have samples in them.. if interested, email info@soforealproductions.com

Q: How do I give credit to So Fo Real?

A: In all instances where credit is given, it must read "Produced by SoFoRealProductions.com", noting the capitalization. We ask that you link to our website when giving credit on the Internet.

Q: Can I make monthly payments on beats?

A: Yes, only for exclusive rights. Monthly payments add $50 interest per month per beat. Email info@soforealproductions.com to arrange a payment plan.

Q: Do you have any packaged deals?

A: Yes, only for exclusive rights. You save $50 per beat when buying more than one beat at a time. Email info@soforealproductions.com to be billed for a packaged deal.

Q: How can I get a custom beat?

A: Send your requirements and budget info to info@soforealproductions.com. You'll receive a reply back with information. Custom production is only for exclusive rights.

Q: What if I made a hit song to your beat and I want you to stop selling the beat but don't have the money to pay exclusive rights?

A: E-mail us at info@soforealproductions.com. You will be required to pay royalties if we consider negotiating a deal.
